INSTITUT NATIONAL SUPERIEUR DE FORMATION ET DE RECHERCHE POUR L'EDUCATION DES JEUNES HANDICAPES ET LES ENSEIGNEMENTS ADAPTES (Paris, FR)

The research Unit (GRHAPES-EA 7287) focuses on accessibility issues and analyses effectiveness of inclusive education policies, the enabling effect of teaching practices and support and their ability to foster inclusion at different levels, at school, in social life and at work. It pays special attention to the capacity of the educational system (in the broadest sense, covering all of its components: educational, medico-social, etc.) to be pedagogically, psychologically, physically and socially receptive to the diversity of profiles and educational needs of young and young adults while at the same time taking into account the characteristics specific to different categories of needs, adaptations and adjustments that they require. Research activity combines fundamental or epistemological research with finalized research, and seeks to combine this research with the production of resources and tools (publications, pictures designed in relief, softwares, dedicated websites...)

The training courses (both on-site practice and e-learning) offered at INS HEA seek to guide the implementation of « educational accessibility » on the basis of a set of training programs, both initial (LMD system) and ongoing training. The aim is to bring knowledge to educational community (inspectors, teachers, educators) who will be working either in ordinary or special schools, in sheltered workshops or adapted companies and in closed educational centers and prisons.

INS HEA represents France within the European Agency for Special Needs and Inclusive Education, which is partly funded by the European Commission and whose mission is to encourage and promote research and innovation.
